Default I'm frustrated with this problem

I have a 1998 mustang cobra. One day I was driving it and was coming to a stop so I pushed in the clutch. I noticed that the clutch felt like it "broke" when I pushed it down and it went all of the way to the floor. I then heard what sounded like a rattling from the tranny. I knew my clutch was going out on me so I just figured it finally went all the way out. while the car is sitting still I cannot get it into gear, it just grinds the gears.

So I pulled off the tranny and changed the clutch which needed it badly, I got it all put back together and now it is doing the same exact thing. It wont go into gear, it just sits there and grinds the gears!! Where did I go wrong? Help please.

Did you change the throwout bearing when you put the new clutch in? Sounds like it could be that or possibly a shift fork inside the tranny.

EDIT- one more thing to look at would be the clutch quadrant. Make sure it hasn't broken also.
