Changing stock pulley

Default Changing stock pulley
I have a new 2.8 inch pulley, belt and a tune. Is it necessary to change the idler pulley when going from stock down to 2.8?

You don't have to add the aux. idler but it does help with belt slippage. I have virtually no slippage on my 04.
