I dont have after market headers, but I have cat back Flowmasters and a BBK X pipe (no cats), on my 03 Cobra.
I have had H pipes on two 5.0 Mustangs, they sounded OK, but I can tell the X pipe flows better, I believe the X pipe flows better because of the cross of the flow in the X section of the pipe, which equalizes back pressure in your engine.
Ive belive that an H pipe will give a throatier (deeper rumble) sound, and the X pipe will be more raspy (Tin can) sounding. The H pipe keeps the flow of your engine more seperated from left and right sides by never forcing a merge in the middle. Simply look at the letters: H X and imagine your exhaust running through them.
I would go for performance over the Muscle car rumble.
Either way it will sound good, just differant tones.
It also sounds alot differant without cats.
Are you going with or without cats on yours?
