Default How to unleash the cobra? 1995 Mustang Cobra

Hello everyone I just picked up a 95 cobra and I want to know what I have to do to unleash the power. I am planning on throwing a s/c on it later on. What would be the best mods I could put on it?

Steeper rear end gears are your best bang for the buck besides NOS. The usual mods work well: Cold Air intake, Cat back or full system, fresh oil filter, fuel filter, bigger mm wires, plugs and a good tune. A short throw shifter will make her feel a lot better. An MSD box will help as well.

what kind of hp numbers would I be looking at with the mods listed above? I am also thinking of going with nos instead of a s/c because it is a lot cheaper to do so. Any opinions?

if you're lucky like 8-10hp at the wheels... the gears won't provide a horsepower increase, but they will make the car accelerate much faster. The short throw shifter will decrease the space between shifts, thus making them cleaner, faster and more accurate.

If I were you I'd give it a tune up and then shop for a power adder or start shopping for high flow heads an agressive cam and all that other stuff in the huge 302 market

If I recall those Cobra's were about 235-240 from the factory which was really about 265-270 if you read into the sum of the parts (24 lb injectors, bigger MAF,GT 40 heads, Cobra intake, electric fan, factory shorties, etc. I really think you might see about 20-30 more horses with all I listed. The MSD box really helps at the top of the RPM band. The car will pull hard all the way through red line. Also drop in a 180 thermostat and bypass your smog if you can live with that. The exhaust helps a good bit and the gears will make it get into its RPM band quicker. A short throw will make it feel like you are rowing a race car instead of stirring an ax handle through a tub of gummy bears. Nitrous is cheaper but has its caveats. Bottle refills are around 40 bucks and bottles only last 45-50 seconds. If those year Cobras have cast pistons I would avoid a big shot. Have it tuned for NOS (less timing, more fuel). Try the less troublesome naturally aspirated way first until you decide you just gotta have more.
