1995 Mustang Cobra Looking For A Good Short Throw Shifter, Suggestions?
Hello all, I am planning on buyin a short throw shifter but I'm not sure what kind to get. From a little bit of research I have found that most people say the pro 5.0 or the steeda tri ax are the ones to go with. Which would you guys recommend and why? Also if there are better shifters out there please let me know. I am planning on buying a roush classic shifter handle because I really love that old school look. I know these can be put onto a tri ax but I'm not sure about the pro 5.0. Thanks for any responses!

I've not tried anything else,so I'm biased, but I like the Pro5.0-I didn't like that the shifter handle was so far forward and looked at the Roush handle that you are,but seemed a bit pricey for my(limited) budget.I ended up putting an MGW adjustable handle($30) and put the handle right right where I wanted it and topped it off with a Hurst classic round knob.My son put a Steeda Tri-ax in his and likes it,but I haven't driven it since he did

I have the Steeda Tri-Ax in my Cobra and love it. It has a very positive/Strong feel. The MGW is a good choice, I have had the oppurtunity to drive a car with it, but I deffinatly prefer my Tri-Ax. As far as the Pro 5.0 I hear good things about it but have never used one.

So I'm guessin either way I go I'm going to enjoy it a lot more over the stock shifter. Anyone have experience with both the 5.0 and the tri ax?

I had a Tri-ax in my GT, and now I have the Pro 5.0 in the Cobra. They both have a good feel to them, much better than stock. When it comes to racing and fast, hard shifting, the Pro 5.0 finds 3rd much easier than the Tri-ax.
Thanks for the responses guys. I think I will be ordering the 5.0 as soon as I have the extra cash for it.
