Ive got a 99 Cobra with 3.90s, off road exhaust, short throw, and 75 shot of nitrous. I went to the track and ran a 13.8 spinning off the bottle and the same time on the bottle spinning even more but with a higher trap speed. Does anyone have any suggestions aside from a set of slicks????

I'd suggest calling Steeda, they have a whole IRS package for this problem. It includes bushings, relocators, and other things I can't remember right now but it's all together and really works.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

Racing without slicks is a waste of time, and rubber. You're not going to hook up without them. 99 Cobras with stock 3:27 gears, street tires, and no add-ons will run 13.8, and they'll break traction in a heartbeat. If 1/4 mile racing is your thing, lose the IRS and get a straight axle with 4:88s and slicks. Then watch your numbers. Oh what fun it is to ride!

I agree with him ditch the IRS, but idk bout 4.88's unless its a weekend only car. That might be a little much for a daily driver.

My everyday car was running 4:88s, and that was with a 4 speed. It was running about 3500 RPM @ 65 the best I can remember, and pure fun at every light. It was a Bowtie though, might make a difference with the Blue Oval. Just kidding ya Ford guys. 4:88s are fun on the highway no matter what you're driving.

Im not going to change the gears or the IRS... already have installed 3.90s in the stock rearend. just spin more now with the change. guess Ill get some slicks and see what happens.
