Default getting more horses from a 98 cobra

i have a 98 cobra with a 4.10 rear-end and steeda timing adjuster. could you please tell me what parts(mods) i would need to get to the 400hp mark, without nos and n/a.

also could anyone tell me what these cars were rated hp wise from the factory. what is the stock compression ratio?

thanks for any and all help

305hp low 9,s in compression so it is perfect for a blower, unless u pull it apart and port everything add cams, balanced exc, u will be hard pressed to get 400hp with just minor bolt ons on just motor.

hey whats up. I'm in the same search. So far I have installed a BBK x-pipe,flowmasters and a Steeda Tri-Ax short shifter. I have the stock 3.27 rear gears. I'll be installing 4.10's pretty soon. Is it a big difference with the 4.10's?

I found a full spec sheet on my 99 with a simple Google search.
That will tell you everything you want to know, down to the interior color options.
On the 4:10 gears, you'll notice a difference. I personally would go lower, 4:56 or 4:88, but a friend is taking his 4:10 out and going with the higher 3:73. Know what you want to do with the car then choose your ratio.

Yeah, true. I don't want to race in the Indy 500, but I want to start with basic mods.I want to improve my racing takeoff, 3.27's are great for burning rubber a block long, but I want the get go feeling of my late "betsy", 1990 G.T 5.0 that I sold. Thanks and let me know what else you do to your car.

CR is actually 9.8:1 in the 96-98 Cobra, still fine for mild boost. Like Coolwater said, 305 fhp, torque is 300 ft. lb. 400 NA HP is do-able, but certainly not gonna happen with just bolt-ons. It would take a pretty radical H/C/I combo to reach those #'s.

FR500 Intake - $2500
Ported (cleaned up) FR500 Heads with a good valve job - $1500 + VJ, porting $
FR500 Cam Kit w/lifters, valves, ect. - $1500

That will get you close ~ 375. To get to 400 you need to rev it past 7k, forged bottom end, manley I beam rods, CP pistons recommended.

Did you run out of money yet? : )
