Default 1997 Mustang Cobra Using Oil

My Cobra is going through about a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Car has 113K. No leaks, head gasket and coolant fine. Use is more evident in city driving than on the highway. No weird noises, bad idling or hesitations with heavy or light throttle. No smoke seen through exhaust. Any ideas?

my 96 cobra only has 88,000 miles and it is doing the same thing. I had the car for about 1 day, and the oil light flashed at me. I got it home and it was a quart low. I called the lady that I purchased it from and she said, " I never had to add any oil between oil changes"

The first thing I did was hit the odometer and clicked zero and watch the counter. So far 344 miles and is has not used any oil....yet

I posted the same thing on a different thread and they said it was normal for these cobras to use a little oil

I have no leaks, no smoke, nothing and it uses a little oil. Mark ( on this site) stated that it could be vavle seals or guides. I am not going to replace those unless it gets worse.

Good luck,

Rich

I think it's valve guide seals too. I talked to a mechanic friend and he said that was probably the culprit. I was just curious if anyone had the same thing going on. This engine is perfect except for the oil thing. It hasn't gotten worse in the 4 years I've owned it so eventually I'll get it fixed But I'm in no hurry to get a valve job. I was also thinking it could be something else. Thanks for the reply
