Angry 1997 cobra randomly cuts out power. Any suggestions?

i have a 1997 cobra and the car will jump and buck everytime i try and engage the clutch even somewhat fast or any time im going up a hill and hit a bump. it seems like it will do it whenever the front of the car is jolted back. it doesn't bog down, its more of a quick cut off of the ignition then picks itself back up. already have new engine harness and a few other checks and nobody can figure it out without replacing alot. any suggestions?

need to be a little more specific. My car bucked when I accidently unplugged the MAF. it has bucked when it was missing. I have had a car bucked when the fuel pump was going bad.

Default bucking problem

there is a new engine harness in the car and none of the plugs seemed to be loose at all. as for the fuel pump i guess it could be bad but how would i know unless i just replaced it and crossed my fingers. im low on money so trying random fixes and hoping wont work unfortunately

Hey farba have a mechanic check your fuel pressure. I am just throwing some ideas out. As far as your descriptions, they are to general. My car bucked, died, accelatored real quick....um.....needed to replace the MAF. see how many different symptoms one thing can cause? You may have to just cough up some money and have your car put on a machine. Bucking can be electrical, or is it missing? Give us some more info

As far as throwing parts at a car. I have done it many times, but that is one of the things you have to deal with when owning a sports. And no....I am not wealthy either....

Good luck,

Rich

Default still nada

well there is a fuel pressure gague in my car and the pressure reads fine inside my car. i went through most of the car to check if any wiring was loose and i couldn't find anything. the msd ignition box is in the truck but it is attatched tight and even if i shake the car or shake any harnesses there is still nothing. there are no codes when the car jumps and the speedo still works, but i still think it is electrical because of the fact that the car will cut off and on so quickly. i have had people tell me that the aftermarket chip could be bad but i dont know the likleyness of that. it has been to a few performance shops and so far all ive gotten is to rewire the car because of the rediculous amounts of wires from sterio and other stuff that has been taken out. but no money for that.

My 96 Cobra did the same thing and it turned out being a spark plug. Could be a coil pack going bad, throttle position sensor or something like that also.. Hate to say it but the $100 diagnostics at the Ford dealer is your best bet. They told me they could pin-point what was wrong. Unless you are extremly lucky, you will spend much more throwing parts at it, trust me I know. It sucks, I paid $100 for them to tell me to change my plugs. I checked 3-4 of them they looked ok. If it does it when you hit a bump, check your fuel lines and make sure nothing is pinching them off under the car. I had a Z-28 do that, clamp came loose and it was getting pinched back by the rear end. Any how, good luck.
