Default 1997 Mustang Cobra Brakes. Need Help Deciding

i just bought a 1997 mustang cobra and i was told by my mechanic that the front brake pads are worn out and they are the cause for the noise while im cruising. so now i want to change the pads but also look into changing the rotors as well just to make sure i have a good set up. so if anyone has any ideas for a good package it would help me alot thanks

Hiya and welcome. Glad you joined us.
You could step up to a 13 inch rotor with those 17's you have. You have the option of drilled, slotted, drilled and slotted, they all improve braking power so it's just your personal taste.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

i thought my year cobra already came with 13" rotors in the front. and my friend has a 98 trans am and he got cross drilled and slotted and they started cracking and now he is dying to save up money to just buy brembo blanks and hawk pads. now i was wondering what your opinion was on going with blanks and just keeping it stock?
thanks

+1 on the 13"s

use baer products or go with frrp cobras. I believe you are running stock 11" brakes on that year model, but I've been wrong before....

13" on the '97s! There are many options ranging from decent performance replacement parts to high dollar (thousands) upgrades. The stock Cobra braking package is just fine for daily driving, but if you want a little more you could go for some Power Slot rotors and Hawk pads. If you plan to do any road racing or drifting, whatever, look into the Baer, Brembo, and Wilwood upgrade packages.

you are right you already have the 13inch brembo rotors stock. if i were in your position, i would get stock rotors, and maybe hawk or ebc pads. cross drilled and dimpled and all that are nice, but they are noisy.

I agree. If you go with EBC pads, stick with the green.

I have the powerslotted rotors w/ braided line. I had the Hawk HPS pads, which stop good but couldn't stand the squeal/squeak everytime I touched the brake. I put the stock pads back on and it feels no difference on regular driving.
