Default a must read for 1996 cobra owners

ok, im sure we are all aware that our 96's run on the high side of the m on normal right? ok, i put a 195 degree thermastat in in mine, and it runs at about half way on the temp guage on the highway at 70 with 355 gears. ok, in order for us to make ours run cooler especially with the ac, we must put a higher duty radiator, bigger fan and larger condencer for the ac. i recommend not doing the condensor because i think we should all have an underdrive pulley kit. let me know what you folks think. is it ok that the car runs on the high side of m in normal on the temp. guage? giff

Yeah, its normal for it to run on the M. Sometimes on hot days the A is not out of the question. If you ask the manufacture its fine. You dont have to change all that to get your temp down. New t-stat and radiator solved my problem. Mine stays on the end of R. I live in GA where it is 90+ most of the summer. My buddy who is the service manager at my local Ford dealer said that it wouldnt hurt it but it aint good for it either, the cooler the better. Changing your condenser wont help the temp issue, its just lack of cooling surface. A guy on another site said that something called Water Weter or something like that works. He tried it and his car doesnt get as hot. Havent tried it myself so idk. But just change the radiator and should solve your problems, it did mine.

A bottle of WATER-WETTER, it's from Red Line and it's a lot cheaper then a new radiator. It's cheap insurance, I put a bottle and a half, it dropped the temp by 20 degrees in my 96 COBRA. If that doesn't work, then go with a bigger radiator. But try the water wetter first, Mike.
