Default speedometer is off on 1995 cobra mustang

I have a 1995 mustang cobra, which is the last year for the 5.0 and its got 3.73's and my speedometer is off. I replaced the speed sensor gear in the transmission and it was a red gear now its white and its still off, its closer but not right. I have an E303 cam, and tires are 245/45/17.
I don't know what else could be bad, maybe bad sensor?

thanks in adv for any help.

You changed the gear inside the transmission? You also need to change the gear on the speedo cable too, then it should be right. You should get one where you got the tranny gear.

How bad is it off? My 96 has the same size tires and 3:73's and I had the gear changed in the trans and mine is 5 mph off still. Where is the cable gear located and how hard is it to change? I have gotten used to the speedo being off by now but it would be nice to have it right. If you dont mind let us know what you do and how much of a pain it was.

I put a new speed sensor in, seems closer, with the white gear on the end of the speed sensor, it is 5 mph off, with the old one anyway, I haven't checked it with the new sensor in yet. I'm thinking the gear on the tailshaft inside the tranny has to be changed too, and that means pulling the tranny. As far as a speedometer cable, I don't have one, its electronic. I think we have to deal with it man, you can put stock gears back in....
here is a post i made about this on another mustang website, check it out.

Speedometer Gear Selector

heres what you need to find. the E3ZZ-17285-A 7 tooth yellow gear.
get one at your ford dealer. they are only like 13 bucks, but yea you need to pull the trans and the extension housing and shifter.
