Default 1997 Mustang Cobra head swap

I want to rebuild the engine in my 1997 cobra.I can get a set of 2003 cobra heads for less than the cost of rebuilding my heads, will these fit my block? And if they do fit what are the pro's and con's of using them?

Hiya, I see this is your first post. Welcome to the site.
You can use those heads, but they'll reduce the effective compression ratio and reduce power output.

Would you care to explain how two sets of heads with the same chamber volumes will reduce static compression?

....<getting out popcorn>...
kinda the same way a 9" rear on a DD is a good idea....
or how it's awsome to dump tons of time and money into a craptacular cobra engine with B heads that isn't going to even be used....

The 03 cobra heads will fit the block. They are a TumblePort design, which is superior (freeer flowing, but still weak spots in the valvetrain)to the B heads that are on the 96-98 cobras. However, you will need a TP intake - either from a 99-01 mach 1, or the s/c assembly from the 03/04 cobra to get the TP heads to work.
There may also be something with the COPS, I'm not sure...

The COPS won't have anything to do with the head swap. You can use plug wires just as easily as COPS on those heads.

I'm going to take the high road and not engage in a juvenile type argument. I will point out there were revisions to accomodate the forced induction the 2003 received.

A local book store should have or be able to get something on the 4.6 for you.

Take the high road? I'm asking you to answer a simple question, am I not?

Oh, and way to make use of your super powers as a moderator to edit one of my posts... I was in no way blasting you, although I'm sure you feel that way.

So, if you know it all, what were these accomadations with the cylinder heads that will lower his static compression. This will be the third time I ask...

I only merged your threads, I did not edit anything. No need to. And I didn't take it as you blasting me, you're just being you. And you don't need any opinions from me, you're doing it all yourself. If you have any problems with me, take it up with the Site Owners, Scott and Cathy. They're appraised of this situation. Again, I'm not entering a juvenile style debate over something like this.

What juvenile debate? I'm asking to answer a question on a post you made. Again, am I not?

Get yourself a set of the 03/04 heads, and a 99/01 cobra intake manifold. If you can swing the price, I suggest the FRPP FR500 cam kit, it'll come with new cams with a bit more duration than stock, new stainless valves, valvesprings, and cam followers.

That setup will easily put out 350rwhp N/A on the stock bottom end.

The revision was to use dish top pistons, increasing the volume of the cylinders, thus decreasing the compression ratio.

also, I don't think anyone is trying to insult, flame or ridicule, just trying to provide accurate info to the thread starter.
