Default 2003 Mustang cobra, hard clutch pedal?

OK, test drove a really nice low mileage, stock 03 cobra last night and really want to go get it. The only thing is that the clutch pedal is hard as a mother to push in. My 03 Mach's pedal was nowhere near this hard. Is all cobra clutch's that hard or is there something wrong here? Please let me know because I want that car!!!

My 03 has 8,000 miles on it, and I don't think the clutch is all that stiff. I had an 87 that I had a Ford Motorsport clutch in, and they feel about the same to me. The car you test drove could have stiffer springs in the clutch. I'm not a mechanic though, by no means. Maybe someone else might give you some better feedback. I hope it works out for you to get it though. These cars are awesome.

There have been complaints about this. Mine is stiff but most of my cars have had stout clutches. i read an article that said something about the new GT 500's have a less stiff clutch than 03-04 snakes (the article seemed to say the 03-04 was too stiff).

My clutch is also stiff. So much though that my friend didn't think the clutch was stock.

All 03/04 Cobra clutches are pretty stiff. That's what happens when it isn't a hydraulic clutch like the GT500. You can loosen it up a bit by getting yourself a firewall adjuster and new clutch quadrant, maybe $75 or so. This changes the pedal feel slightly and makes it a little less stiff and a little smoother. Or, just change out the cluth for something aftermarket. Eventually you will need to do this because the mod bug will hit you and that stock clutch won't last that long. LOL

My 03 GT has a clutch that I first thought was kind of stiff, but when I just bought my 03 cobra the other day it had a really really stiff clutch. I didn't think it was stock, but it is. I test drove several, and they were all 03 cobras, and all were about the same really stiff. When I got back into my GT to drive it again I about put my foot through the floor.

As the others have said, it has a stiff clutch. Coming from a '02 GT (5-speed) to the '04 Cobra...the clutch is a lot stiffer.

So...did you buy the Cobra?

The stock clutches in these cars are stiff. I have a Mcleod RST street twin and it is very nice to drive compared to the stocker.
