We already have the "Ignore list" that we can add members to.
How about we get an "Ingore Thread" that we can add threads to.
Personally, I feel that many of the threads turn into propaganda diatribes, and if I wanted to read those, I'd go to "Move on . org"
or to the Michael More fan club site..
I know, it's easy to say, if you don't want to read it, don't click on it.
I just don't feel that goes far enough. I want the ability to just "not see" the undesirable threads.

yeah, we could all create our own little bizarro-worlds where nothig gets said that would impose itself on our virtual reality!
If it's good enough for Bush, it's good enough for us!

That is the one nice thing about this site. People can say what they want if I am on a thread and I am not liking the direction in which it is going I simply click it off. Personally I do not think we need that stuff. Like you said just do not click on it. That is just my two cents worth.

If I have A button to click, one click, and all my issues are solved. Ignore List helps, but it's not enough.

Aw, now, come on, KS - let's face it, anyone whose main source of facts about what is going on in the world is this site is beyond hope, anyway. Personally, I enjoy a lot of the debate threads and I sometimes hear of details (which I can then research further) that I had not, otherwise, heard about. However, let's recognize that those threads are comprised mostly of opinion and that seeing them really won't make anyone a more politically well-rounded individual.
I think JEB has a good idea. He's not requesting an end to the debates and some of our Mustang brethren and sistren may not wish to have to keep scrolling past the same three or four threads to get to ones they want to read every time they log on.
In fact, I would take his suggestion one step further and suggest that the site administrators consider another idea. Another site to which I belong actually has a 'political discussion' subforum. That way, members of the community who wish to discuss such things know what they are getting into when they enter. Those of us (like, for instance, you and I) who enjoy the debates could choose to enter while those who don't would know to avoid that subforum. One advantage to those of us who do want to debate would be that we wouldn't have to read posts that say 'Why are we discussing this on a Mustang site?" and then have to explain that this is not, strictly, a Mustang site but an online community which is made up of Mustang enthusiasts (at least that is how I understand Scott Halliday's intent.)
You have to admit- the conversations on here are kept intelligent with a dash of humor. On other boards, they just start flaming people for their views.
THAT and if I read something that sparks my interest, I'll Google it and see what I come up with. In my honest opinion, it's a good way to get coverage without relying on the TV to filter it for me.
Thanks for quoting ks... I could've gone the rest of my life without his idiocy and been perfectly happy. But no, you had to quote him...
His comments are one of the biggest spoilers to any thread I look at.
I would prefer that political comments and other off topic chatter remain in some other thread.
I think this is a good solution for many people who, just as JB stated, don't want to scroll through endless threads of garbage to get to what we want.
If there is a way to ignore the thread, it is no longer an issue.

I'd love to agree that the conversations on this site are kept friendly but that's just not the case based upon the point of view I had as a mod for over a year. We have some of the most passive-aggressive personalities on this site and I seriously think if anyone with a psychiatric care background ever logged in they'd beg some of us to get some therapy (myself included, I went through 3 months of it when my separation started).
I completely agree that a political discussion subforum would be an awesome idea and I'll further that idea by requesting that only members who have 500+ posts with no infraction points for flaming or disrespectful comments be allowed to participate in that subforum.

Sorry JEB, I was ignoring you LOL JK. I actually kinda like that suggestion. I could ignore all the tech threads when I use the post in the last day option LOL.
Scott has been working very long days and not able to get back here to work on the great ideas, I have given him a list of good one's he has agreed are worth implementing. So who knows???

... nah just kidding. I can care less, add a button if its needed for some, I look and if I get bored I click back and pick a new thread. I may have ADD...hey look a quarter!
I ignore everything I don't like, but much as AFM admins and moderators are your "government" I don't think you want us to Nazi responses.. believe me.. I want less government. Unfortunately it's up to you all on the board to keep us out of your lives.
