Yes and no...more like holding their breath at the moment.
Saleen's history. I wouldn't be giving them any deposits. Might be worthwhile checking out their next bankruptcy auction, though, assuming they haven't already sold off the good stuff.

No, they're fine! Have lots of work. They are only consolidatiing operations all into one building.
I can not comment on what they do and for who. But they are not going anywhere at the moment as a company. Most of their work is in Michigan now though, so it's better logistically to be located here.
If I am wrong, then I was misinformed by a reliable source.
I would hold off until the dust settles though. Or buy from JDM or Brenspeed for support at the moment.

Reason: corrections
Yup, I know all about the auctions. Weeks before the press did. Sure wasn't going to post it on the WWW. I also know who bought most of the cars, and some of the layout tables, equipment, etc.
Wouldn't make good press if there wasn't some mystery would it?
I still stand by what I said, that's all I can comment on.
Where the company screwed up was taking on ASC's liabilities. After Heinz Prector commited suicide his widow hired a company to liquidate all assets. The end result was a combination company that wanted some contacts, etc. A friend of mine was the ax man that had to get rid of the majority of the employees in the Southgate, Michigan offices. He didn't sleep well for months.
It truly is a restructing, and is being monitored. Plenty of people file bankruptcy to start over, more or less the same thing in this case.
Believe me, I am not nor have I ever been a fan of Saleen cars or products. I don't care for the new ones with the center outlet exhaust. But I will speak of only what I know to be true.

LOL, I misread their byline on the second announcement, thought it was the same sort of auction at the Michigan location.
With Irvine gone, doing the same thing at Michigan would have been pretty bad.
But I jumped in and corrected my mistake. My bad - shoot, if I was perfect, someone would have shot me by now.
I hear that Steve is now working on Challengers at his new company.
I hope THEY don't end up with a central exhaust (I have never liked those, either, including Audis and Porsches).
I didn't get a gander at the first auction list.
I heard about this a few days before the first auction. I used to subscribe to some auction list services, when I dealt in used cars, but I haven't done that in years. Good way to pick up on buying opoprtunties, though. Some of those lots they are letting go right now could be good buys for folks in need of those items. I've always wanted some of those machine tools...
I agree, obviously, as to waiting for Saleen to figure out what they are going to do. Caution would be wise. Thanks for the background. Ironic Chris Theodore getting bumped out of Ford and ending up with a troubled Saleen. Lots of ex-Ford guys finding new jobs these days.

You have no idea. But many lose their new jobs as fast as they find them. Get picked up for a project, then it doesn't pan out. And even if they do find steady income, it's a huge pay cut. Tough deal around here right not. I am one of the luckiest SOBs I know in SE Michigan right now. Even with my wife unemployed for 18 months Only have my S197 left to play with, but I am still eating well.
I want a set of 8 tires that fit my car for $100. My brother in-law lives in Irvine. Like to get a bunch of that stuff for my biz, including a hoist. To much to ship. There's enough places in Michigan going under, not to hard to find deals.
You have to wonder about places picking up people that ran a company that is already in trouble though? Guess I don't understand the White Collar world to well

Works with a similar "logic" to how they hire Coaches for the NBA.
Hardly anyone wants to break in an "unproven" Coach who has never been a head NBA coach before, so its just musical chairs, with Coaches coming off a losing year hitting the empty spot - but only for a few weeks, usually, then they are off to the next chair.
Theodore was the loser in the coup Bill Ford staged when they stripped SVT, axed Colletti, laid off a ton of talented people, and ultimately made SVT just a paper tiger in a filing cabinet inside Product Development. Now its probably going to end up not even that, with Tang shuttled into a safe slot in South Am., and the new guy (forget his name, sorry, getting to be you have to have a scorecard LIKE a basketball game) sporting a new title (every ratchet down toward zero employment, the management titles get grander and grander!).
Maybe your bro.in-law could rent a trailer or something. Irvine is a long haul from Michigan, though.

Don't get me going on the Colletti deal. Heck of a nice guy, met him at an SAE dinner. Problem was, he is old school. Spoke his mind.
The fab guy I work with now single handedly welded the whole Ford GT show car. The one featured on the Discovery channel story. He can be seen in many shots. That was the kind of team work and effort Colletti was capable of. 6 months to develop a driveable working Supercar. Heck, it's taken GM almost 5 yrs to get the Camaro on the road People respected him, and desired to work hard for him.
Tang...used and put in a safe spot as you said. All S197 owners should be thankful to that man. The whole Mustang engineering staff was on hand Saturday. I wanted to ask a bunch of sarcastic questions, but my wife told me to be the better person.

SVT is a great disappointment. If it wasn't for outside sources supporting the projects (fab, calibration, specs), there would be no SVT vehicles. IMO there aren't enough real "car people" left in Dearborn to produce such a thing.
When I was 14yrs old, I'd ride up to SVO (8 blocks from my childhood home) on my bike and talk with the guys there. They humored the punk teenager with big dreams, and told me to work hard. I dreamnt of working there, based my school and life around it. Before I was able, the building was renamed and SVO disbanded.
I'm going to have to stop...this thread has drifted waaayyy off topic.

I just did a run through the news from Eaton, and no sign in their public areas where they plan to take their twin vortice prices. I looked through their business news announcements looking for the sort of corporate profile (high demand, high profits, strong order book from major manufacturers) that would mesh with my idea that they are likely to raise prices:
They did just complete a big sale of these units to Audi for their new direction injection supercharged V6. (Their direct injection system is similar to the new system coming from Ford). Audi will be needing their superchargers almost immediately, too. News - Eaton Corporation
Eaton is also just finishing a record quarter, with record profits, so they are flush with success. Price increases frequently follow high demand for new products and record profits. The marketplace is telling them that they have pricing power. News - Eaton Corporation
GM has named Eaton as their "Supplier of the Year". Eaton does a lot of business with GM for OE parts. News - Eaton Corporation
