Cold air intakes can be swapped for the stock airbox honestly in about 5-10 minutes tops. You really only have to loosen the clamp on the throttle body to pull that side off, and the bolt that hold the heat shield on, and that's it. You disconnect the 1 line to the valve cover, and the harness for the MAF and everything pulls out as one assembly.

Two bolts to swap the MAF back into the stock housing, and one bolt, one clamp to put everything back in. Reconnect MAF clip and factory hose to valve cover.

Done. Now reflash and dealership cannot prove anything.

They won't see any "keep alive memory", but that just means the PCM lost power. You could tell them you went out of town and just took the negative terminal off the battery just so nobody would take your vehicle. They can't say otherwise.

You can avoid all that hassle just by driving roughly 50 miles on the factory tune and intake before bringing it in.

The Mag. Warranty act is 100% true, but never works. I have plenty of people who's vehicles have had their warranty void (not even mustang owners) and it costs more money to fight to keep the warranty with legal fees than it's worth unless you got a company lawyer, one in the family, or whatever.

Just replace the stock intake and tune, drive it around, take it to the dealer only for warranty and recall work. Don't go to the dealer for service, anyway. Unless you like being a rape victim?

The best thing to do is ask the dealer you deal with his take on the question. That way you know where your dealer stands.

Does this apply to the 08's which the dealer can supposedly pull up the parameters from your past tunes? What exactly will they be able to pull from your computer if they check it?

Well, it appears there is no clear answer to this question. Seems best to look at it not as black and white, but in terms of probability. If you do several mods to your warranty stang, then you will likely not expect your warranty to cover everything anyway. For example, add lowering springs and it would be difficult to argue your struts, mounts, panhard, etc. should be covered under warranty, right? Those parts, likely (say 75% chance), become your responsibility. On the other hand, to say your Eibach springs caused your transmission to fail, would be less likely, although feasible (say a 25% chance of not being covered).

You could likely stretch these odds in your favor a little by either finding a Ford service that was friendly to mods or, as some have suggested, only take your car to Ford service when you need warranty work or a recall (then be sure to reverse what you can, before hand).

So, yes, it is a crap shoot in a way, but there are things you can do to move the odds in your favor, BUT NEVER to a 100% level of certainty. If you need that, I'd say stay away from all performance mods.

Note: By "friendly Ford service" I mean some places do a lot of mods, others do none. Definitely worth checking before you bring you car in. Of course, I live in the LA area and there is a Ford dealer every couple blocks it seems (really, about 15 within driving distance). You may not have as many options.
