It's classic valve float under load. It's happened only once before for us, but I know alot of tuners who get it alot.
There really isnt one crane spring out there that doesnt need machining to before dropping in, and I'm assuming their dual springs. The fact that you couldn't get the keeper out leads me to believe it is weak springs. Give Chris Tillman a call tomorrow, we'd like to get it back up on the dyno when she's ready!
