I am a new owner of a SCT X3 tuner loaded with 3 Tillman tunes. I have my first tune installed in my 2008 GT, The car even sounds more powerful at Idle. It has more off the line torque and the MPG seems better as well.
During my explorations of the menu options of the SCT X3, I noticed that when I loaded in a tune, it first read in the stock tune and stored it to the tuner. Thats all well and good. But it occured to me, what if I wanted to go from the performance tune to the road race tune? Would I first need to return the car to stock then load the second Tillman tune? Or can I go from one tillman tune to another without overwrighting my stock tune. The manuel did not cover this concern of mine.
As a side mention, on my first drive with the new tune I noticed my cooling fan roaring as I pulled into my car port. This did not happen with my stock tune or the tune I got from Ford Racing when I installed the Bullit power upgrade package and their 91 tune. The temp needle was in the usual place. I figured the fans were set lower.
Being a study of AFM I learned what the stock fan settings were and after returning to my stock tune, tweeked my Tillman fan settings to the stock temps. The temp guage sits in the same place as before while driving. I didn't notice a down side. So I wonder, why does your tune set the fans to come on at that low of a temp? And that adjustment also brought up question 1 above to mind again. I am being safe and going to factory between tunes. But do I have to?

Once the stock tune is in the tuner you can switch between the other tunes as you wish without having to return to stock every time. As far as the fan goes I am not sure, someone else may have an answer but dont hesitate to call Tillman with your concerns

Thank you for your comments. I hoped that is how it worked. But the sting for being wrong would have been the loss of my stock tune. Ouch! So I was being careful until I found out otherwise.
On another note, I was happy to discover that if I do make a mod to a custom tune, say changing the gears in the rear end or the idle speed, I can apply those changes to the other tunes without editing them for each. Something I didn't expect but made a smile on my face when I realized it. Its like the tuner has a buffer in it to store adjustments which is separate from the tunes held within.

If Tillman gave your tuner, user adjustability you may be able to set the fans. But don't touch, anything else unless you have tuning experience, Mike. SCT Tuner.

I used idle speed and gears in my example as they appeared to be adjustable and I had already used the fans in another post. The only thing I changed was to set the fan temps back to factory. They were 192 and 198 and they were running most all the time. Factory was said to be 212 and 228. There may be a good reason why so low and I have been keeping a keen ear on the engine sounds for rattles and an eye on the temp gauge. All is normal. Even when the fan clicks on and off. Could be a cooler engine runs a few more horses and so that is the reason for the fans to be working so hard.
