Default Tillman supplied SCT-X3 Firmware updates

I recently purchased 3 tunes from Tillman speed which came in an SCT-X3 tuner. I got a hold of a USB cable and downloaded the updater software from SCT and what I think is flash programmer updated firmware. I think because what I read on SCT's web site warned of some sort of changes to programmers sold over a year ago. Bought from whom; SCT or a 3rd party? I don't know when a particular 3rd party purchased their stock. So, a tuner bought 7/1/09 from Tillman a pre change item or a post change?

One other question about updating the tuner....
My current firmware is 1.2.113 and unless I am mistaken, the SCT web site is offering version 1.2.116. This is a minor up date I know and as far as I know everything worked for me so I am not in a big hurry. If I should update the firmware in the tuner, should I return my car to stock first? There was a warning in the documentation about a possible problem with the tuner loosing track of where the tunes were and instructions for recovering from the problem. I would rather avoid it. The docs did not advise me to return to stock before a firmware update. But because of the possible error condition, I though I would ask first. Thank you.

there is a updated live load program that will allow .cef and .ll3 formatted tune files to be loaded on the tuner. unless your loading new tunes onto your tuner, you dont need to plug in your tuner to your pc for anything. your stock tune stays on the tuner. you can replace 1 or all of your tunes on the tuner with saved files, should you buy new tunes. if you have any error problems on the tuner, best thing to do is call sct and ask for a tech. he can log into your computer and fix things fast.

Put the car back to STOCK before you update the firmware or you will be dealing with SCT tech support.

which is not a bad thing. those guys are awesome with computers and tuners. they dont know anything about tunes but that doesnt matter. if you think you need a firmware update because you are having any trouble, just get your tuner, computer and printerr cable, and car ready and call them. they can get you straight in no time

You're fine with FW 12113. FW 12116 mostly just adds support for some 09 vehicles.

Always return to stock before updating firmware.

Thanks for the note. Kind of what I thought as it was a minor revision and the readme file of changes did not pertain to my application. So I stopped worrying about it.
