Default Update on my vert

thought id post a little update 6 months or so after my trip to TillmanSpeed for my tune

the car is still running great,i haven't touched anything motor-wise since i've been there

so far its been a best of 12.997 @ 103.83,which i think is pretty respectable for a 3500lb, junkyard headed,used parts-built convertible..

i love the fact that so many other cars at the track have these high dollar aluminum heads, and none of them can keep up with my junkyard top-end kit..hell,i hang right in there or even beat alot of these cars with blowers, maybe the guys just cant drive? i dont know, but everyone is always stunned when they ask whats under the hood i say an Explorer top end and a good SCT tune

i'm convinced these other guys who cant keep up are behind cuz of the tune(or their lack thereof)

BTW,there is a slight problem with my stock tach,as previously mentioned in the other thread..i bought a 5" monster tach, have my shift light set at 5400rpms..when the shift light comes on at 5400rpms,the stock tach reads 7000rpms lol...

but high 12's arent fast enuff for me..so i ay see you guys again in the spring..with a turbo kit..

I am interested in hearing about tillmanspeed's success with a turbo cause i've only read about blowers at this point.

yeah the driveability with the cam is much better

i think the ET is good considering the HP/weight ratio of the car..and the fact that the heads are basicaly straight from a junkyard to my car(with some very mild home porting) makes if pretty cool too

i think if this were a lighter, more solid notchback it would probably run in the mid 12's
although that pass was on a 1.82 sixty ft,launching about 3500rpms..so theres more left in it if i can launch at a higher rpm, which is being limited by my 9.5" drag radials..gonna get some 275's over the winter

I think 12.9 is a great time for a convertible. It must be a wonderful feeling when the car is running well after all those mods.
