Your engine management system will handle a turbo up to a Max of 6psi, just the way it is. 6 is at the limit. That would be around 50 hp. The problem with turbos is not the turbo, They have been around since the 1920s, The problem is that when you get 50 hp you then want 75 and 100 and a turbo can make 200 if you want it to. And then you run over parts of your car when you push the gas down.
Horsepower TV did a show one time about installing a turbo, They put it back where the muffler went. It was a very nice system and no one knew there was a turbo.

Sorry to say thats wrong.

3.6psi is all your car can handle before your going to need to upgrade your fuel mods.

6psi would be WAY over 50hp.

+1 that
Even on a completly stock motor 6 psi should make close to 100 at the crank.

it all depends on how much boost you want to run in your car. I plan on running somewhere in the area of 12lbs. So i had my motor built with forged internals to withstand the stress. Right now im running around 4lbs of boost with the only fuel mod being larger injectors. For the future I also have a 255 walbro fuel pump for the extra fuel demand, but will be running 60# injectors too.
It gets expensive and ill be the first to admit that! At this point in time with only runnin 4psi, its worth the cost

6psi is about 50 hp and the engine can just handle that. But think what you wish. 01 v6 made about 190 hp and with 6 psi that would make 240, should be no problem.

HP gains depend on alot of factors. 50hp is a conservative estimate, it would be more like 100 at 6psi......

Don't take your advice from this guy, he keeps proving over and over how he has no knowledge of what he talks about.

01 v6 was advertised with 190 crank hp....

Which is about 160RWHP.

@ 4.4psi you should make around 250RWHP (+90)
@ 6psi you should be making around 280RWHP (+120)

Up to 8-10psi all your going to need is fuel injectors (bigger ones of course) a bigger fuel pump, and a tune (of course).

After that you need to start looking at forged internals, and rear ends. Once you hit 320-330hp then your need to start thinking about trans.

So if i was going to put a turbo on and have less than 8psi i would need no other mods like a stronger intake or anything like that?

Dude, you're going to need 3k just for the turbo kit or get one custom made for more......
