Default The title RIP might be added to the stang

Well I don't know if I am depressed or pissed, probably both. On my way back to college yesterday morning I was cruising at about 72 and the motor jerk a couple of times then I hear a loud KNOCK...KNOCK...KNOCK coming from under the hood. I call my dad to bring the tow dolly and I haul it back to the shop where I got my head and cam work done. The guy at the shop calls me back today and said that it has thrown a rod . So right now I am looking at either getting an OEM shortblock for $900 and then paying $2000 in labor, finding a used motor and swapping it in, or letting the stang RIP and finding a new car; which I wouldn't be so much against if I hadn't just dumped over $3000 into for the heads and cam.

Any way I do things it is going to cost a lot of $$$ and I won't be any better off. sssssiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhh........

sorry to hear about the ride man. i commute from austin to texas state for class on tuesday/thursday and my car hates me for it. hope all goes well for you. i say same as those guys and take advantage of your preexisting parts. MPS usually has good donor stuff but they might be kind of lacking in v6 stuff. might be worth checking anyway.

I'm no expert....but I'd bury her gracefully and move on to a 08 GT Mustang.

Well for a while I had a externally balanced flywheel on a neutrally balanced motor, I tried driving as little as possible until I got it fixed but I had to drive it some.

Super sixes 4.2L short blocks are like $3000 so that is out of reach. The guy at the shop that did my work, btw it's called Henderson Performance Technologies, said he could get me a OEM shortblock for $900. I would like a 4.2L but right now that is definetly out of reach.

5 stars for you buddy for being a trooper..

anddddd sorry to hear about that tex thats gotta suck..especially after spending all that money...well I could make a couple suggestions...number 1) sell your mods off separately and then have your car "relieved" from your ownership and take whatever money you can get for it. I know a of people that would be interested in buying used ported heads and a cam (uhhum me!)... 2) ask your mechanic how much he can get a 4.2L for you or if that is definitely 100% out of reach, then 900 bucks isn't bad..is that for a used engine? And you should also try to do the labor yourself..it will save you a grand..When a problem happens to one of my cars engines and it needs a new one, I look at it as an opportunity to buy an upgrade..gives me an excuse and justifies spending the money on it...which is why I am running my current one pretty hard..good luck with whatever you decide man I hope everything works out well for you..

Default stang

Sorry to hear that bro. I've seen some good deals on ebay for motors, but if it isn't new you never know what you are getting yourself into. If you don't end up fixing the stang, there may be some good deals and rebates on a new 07' if there are any left on the lot still.
