Ok, question out there for all you mechanics and smart people, maybe even just common sense. My exhaust is currently a stock single with flowmasters... could i take a Y-Pipe and just stick it on there with 2 flowmaster mufflers and no tailpipe? Since the air is still being pushed through the same pipe, would it make a difference? Also if this doesnt work what is the cheapest way to efficiently make my -v6- sound better i dont have enough money for a dual exhaust system and im wondering ways around it... H-Pipe with 2 mufflers and no tailpipes? how do i make that work?

i dont have a y pipe yet, i was in the process of deciding whether it would be worth it... right now i have a stock v6 exhaust(minus the 1 flowmaster i have on now)

Yes, but the stock v6 exhaust has a y-pipe, then the muffler, then the tailpipe. Your exhaust has 2 pipes until the back half of the car where it goes into a y-pipe.
Our V6 comes stock with a Y-Pipe/Muffler/Tailpipe.
For a true dual exhaust...
H or X-Pipe/Two Mufflers/Tailpipes.
I've been digging through a lot of our fellow enthusiast's brains to get so much information about exhaust. They're all very helpful. Thanks AFM!
You could always cut your Y-Pipe and add an H-Pipe adapter, you can find one at americanmuscle.com. Though the cost of that dual exhaust adapter (H-Pipe adapter) is fairly cheap, it will cost as much as a catted or off-road H-Pipe you can buy from somewhere else. Because you know, when you're going to adapt that thing onto your Y-Pipe, it will require welding. And muffler shops would charge you quite a bit just to weld some pipes.
If you know how to weld, or you know of someone that will weld it for you...I'm pretty sure you're in the clear lane.
As for myself, I will be encountering an off-road H-Pipe/two hi-flow cats/two mufflers/Tailpipes/3" Tips. [sighs]
Do you have aftermarket exhaust manifolds (Headers)? Or are they stock?

well if you buy the h-pipe adapter from american muscle you can then buy a gt cat back exhaust system so you have a lot of options to choose from. Go americanmuscle.com link should to the right of your screen and go to exhaust then mid pipes or catback the h-pipe is about 125 and the catback exhaust will vary with type. if you do this yourself get 4 jack stands and jack them to high so you have room to work under. instructions on installing the h pipe can be found on americanmuscle.com go to the h pipe adapter and scroll down and instructions will be there, same with watever exhaust system you choose they have instructions. if you want to be cheap you can get the exhaust system that bolts on the y but be warned this is not true duals and the horse power gain will not be as significant.
I bought my exhaust system peice by piece, 2 hi flow cats, x pipe, two thrush welded muffs, and 3.5 rolled edge tips for around 120, and then install is about 200
