Default need help about air bag warning light?

I sent a message indicating I have an air bag warning light that is on, I wanted to know if there is anyone out there that would know how to make the light reset? Is there something that I can do or do I need to have it fixed by the dealer??? The dealer told me it could be that I need one complete set of battery cables and he also said or I might need to get a new diagnostic monitor? Can anyone assist? I am saying thank you if you can help, in advance, anyone??? 98 mustang...

Sorry if I'm bringing back a dead thread. If you still have the light on, you have a problem with the SRS and it has been deactivated. On most Ford vehicles when you turn the switch on, if there is a problem it should start flashing. Count the number of flashes until it stays on, and then count the second group of flashes. EX- Flash, Flash, Solid, Flash, Flash, Flash. This indicates trouble code 23. Find a list of the codes and you should be able to fix or replace to correct the problem. REMEMBER- Make sure to disarm the airbag system. Disconnect the battery and wait atleast 5 minutes before starting. I've seen these go off and I've heard of people losing their hearing because of these thing going off by their head.
Hope this helps...
