I have a 1999 v6 and a 5.0L mustang sitting, rotting, at the top of the driveway... it wont crank, not sure why. Im either going to sell it for 1-2 grand hopefully. If not i want to swap the engines but i know there is a lot involved in that. Could anyone list what id have to go through, just about every little detail id have to do, and the price est.? if not im gonna sell it and my old wrecked 97 for about 500, total of 2500$ at least hopefully. I can take pictures sometime of the 5.0 and see what you guys think, they guy told me to make an offer. bad interior damage too with holes in the covert. top and the hood ripped off because my brother left the pins out in the hoodpins and well yeah.... anyways thanks for anyone that gives me a list of what id need and prices...............

It is not really worth it. Why would you want to swap in a motor that doesn't run and makes only a little bit more power than your engine? It would cost way to much to be worth it. Especially when you could put all of the money you would spend on the swap into your current engine.
The 5.0L v8 doesn't make that much more power than the newer 3.8L v6. In fact they are pretty darn close. I believe the newer 5.0's had around 200 horses. It would be helpful if you could tell the year of yours. Anyway the 99-04 v6's had 190 at the crank. The 5.0's do have more torque however. I have seen plenty of v6's stomp on the 5.0's. If you put money into your v6 it can be very fast. One main thing you have goin for you is weight. The mustang v6's weigh much less than the v8's and you can get plenty of horsepower out of them. I'd say keep the 6 and put money into it.

Also if you do make the swap there are already problems with your 5.0 which would require more money. Just my thoughts

You don't realize how much work it takes to get a V8 to work in a V6 car.
You would need to set the car up for a V8 before anything and that alone will take money. You will also have to do some in depth work to get the V8 in there as well.
By all means go for it if you want too, it is your car.
You can turbo/super your car and have way more power and it will last longer than the 5.0 will. The 5.0 block is weak. It will hold up to more power than you will ever get but it still breaks around 500hpish.
yeah ive considered alot. if i sell this car, how much you think i could get... im hoping around 2500$ at least and sell my wrecked stang to someone for 500$ which could be enough to just get a s/c but the thing is... theres so much stuff involved in doing either one, engine swap or s/c. stock itll be puttin a lot of pressure on a stock v6, theres stuff id have to get which would be more money in. i do realize the troubles of doing it, thats why i come here to see my other options and opinions... and facts
