Default questions on a side exiting exhaust, 1995 Mustang V6

i was wandering if any of you have made up an exhaust the exits just before the rear tires? i would like to do this to my car. it is a 1995 v6 mustang. what would the best pipe size be and what is beter a circle or rectangale tip? i dont think that i will be running any mufflers on this application unless it will cause me to lose power. any help would be awsome.

i have run with no muffeler and i agree that it does sound horrible, but wouldnt the extra pipe give me some back presure and give a better sound? if you could give me and help on this type of project it would be helpfull, rather than just negativity. i know that you can get help here right

so i am thinking about scarping the dual side exhaust. scine i cannot get any help. it sounds as if doing a dual 2.25" out the back with 3" tips would give me great sound. i had a 2 chamber flowmaster but it didnt have the sound i wanted so i went to the glass pack, anyone know were i can get just the flowmaster?

if you want a good side exhaust you can run it with mufflers and I would recommend it..it won't sound good without them.. I've heard the best for side exhaust from Spintech..check em out..make sure you do it right if you are going to follow through with it because I have seen some pretty ****** up side exhaust set ups..

ok the biggest pipe you can use without losing backpressure is 2.5 and use a muffler or u will also lose backpressure and will not sound good mufflers are most of the sound and running straight pipes will ruin your seals so removing the mufflers is a bad choice

i can totally see how they would say that if your switching the mufflers on an already existing dual exhaust system but if you switch from a Y pipe set up to a true dual then you are making your car breathe better... now if you have an existing dual exhaust you would prolly have to completely take the mufflers off to see any kind of gains and this is assuming that your engine can push enough exhaust to not completely lose all back pressure

btw this post is like 5 months old. why bother?

SpinTech is the best regarded for 6s, but Borla makes a set as well.

The tip doesn't do anything with regards to power, it's a resonator - a sound enhancing device. Generally, -to a point -the larger & round tips produce a deeper resonance (which is why Ford lengthened and widened the tips when it went to the 4.6L to mimic the sound of the 5.0L

Squaretips will reflect higher pitched frequencies a little more, but the power gains come from properly sized tubing and free-flowing mufflers.

Last point on exhaust - you should get stainless-steel, if you're concerned with longevity. If you're going all out - pick up titanium.

IMO, less is more unless you're going forced induction. Duals are cool, but I dunno. Guess I'm just a minimalist. I'm not a fan of getting pulled over either. I will say that side pipes are pretty trick tho... if they're pulled off right. Hack job anything never looks good.
