, what all would i need to get my 1996 3.8 to sound like that, and how much am I looking at money wise ?
Well his car does not sound like that just from the exhaust it also has to do with the cam and the LT headers..the cam is what gives it that beefy sound..you can find one for around 500 but the install is what gets you..if you are not handy with tools and mechanically inclined you will have to pay a hefty price for install..I'm guessing around 1000...as far as the exhaust check the threads on here that are posted in V6 talk...btw heres the list of mods he has...
Long Tube Headers, Magnaflow X-Pipe, No Cats, GT-Take Off Cat-Back with Flowmaster Super 40s, Custom Heads, Cam, and Intake

I bought one and installed it in my V6 with Dynomax mufflers. It looked like a Frankestein as the muffler shop did a poor job. I ended buying BBK headers from American Muscle and true dual Pypes exhaust. It sounds great, similiar to the video.

Man there are so many threads about exhaust here, it's not even funny.
I've been to two Junkyards here (Irwindale & Ontario Mills) and there aren't any '99-'04 ponies. Is that a good sign? The most ponies I've seen were all 5.0s.
My suggestion, which I'm about to do...
-- Off road H Pipes
-- Hi-Flow Cats
-- FlowMaster Original 40s
-- 3" tips
Diameter wise, 2.5". Anything passed that will create a loss in back pressure. I've been told by so many people here at AFM, THANKS GUYS! >=]
As a matter of fact, I'm going to buy two on the list right now. I'm just waiting on this guy to give me my money so I can buy the third one on the list.
Seek and Destroy is the game here when it comes to finding those precious mods we all want for our Ponies. Dig deep into those search engines, and all those Mustang sources...You'll find sites that offer your those parts you want for a really affordable price.
lmperformance.com & ebay is where I'm getting these things from. You seriously cannot argue when there's an Ebay store selling a PAIR of FlowMaster Orginal 40 Mufflers at $117, c'mon now. Free shipping too? I do feel my pockets still feeling heavy after these purchases.

The one in the vid has a lot done to it to make it sound like the way it does. I find it hard to believe your car sounds similar to the one in the vid. What else have you done to your car?

By true dual - do you mean the header back system Pypes offers (with the catted or off-road X-pipe)?

Or their other system: the cat-back system with Y-pipe converter?

Which one is better sound? Better HP? (compare only the catted X-pipe system to the Y-pipe system) I've heard mixed reviews about H-pipes, X-pipes, and Y-pipe converters (which seems similar to an X-pipe) and I just wanted some opinions.
