The cam itself fairly cheap, the tune not too bad, the labor costs to have it done for you...$$$. When I got my heads and cam installed I took it to well represented shop and paid $1000 for lobor alone; the tune was $300. Doing the swap yourself isn't easy either, you have to remove the water pump, the whole timing system, and most of the top end. Decent mechanical skills and proper tools, plan on taking a full weekend.
There a lot of other mods you could do now to build the car and save up for the cam later. Tuner, T-lok, under drive pullies, etc.
