the specs on the 98 mustang conv is 150 hp and 215 ft pds of torque but the hp is rated at 4000 rpm and the foot pds is at 2700 rpm the 99 and 2000 is 190 hp at 5400 rpm and 225 at 3400 rpm for the exact same car so what is the real hp for the 98 mustang at 5400 rpm i know its more than they said cuz a dodge neon has 150 and its alot slower than mine can someone tell me whats goin on with this
The Base V6 was available in coupe and convertible, and there is nothing about the '99 version that has not been improved or restyled. A new chassis supports the vehicle and its increased power. The extra power for the base model Mustang came from the standard 3.8 liter split port V6 engine. An extra 40 horsepower were included for the anniversary year rising from 150 to 190. Torque increased as well to 225 foot pounds.
Like hotshot said, they changed alot in '99. It's a different car. It shares the similar sn-95 chassis, yes. I thought the pre-'99's were actually rated at 145 h.p. To be completely honest, these cars are quite sluggish stock. They built the GT's to be fast(er). Not to say that they can't become fast with a few modifications..

the convertible 1999 that is exactly like the 98 says 190 hp its is exactl like mine but different intake and the specs are the same and weighs the same what i cant figure out is why the only went to 4000 rpm on the dyno when every other car went to at least 5300 rpm i know my car is alot quicker and has more power from 4000 to 5400 rpm

When you dynotune a motor, the hp peaked at 4000, at 4100 it dropped. That is why different cars and motors all show different peak RPM numbers......
well then the hp can have bigger numbers all i know is that it has smoked many v6s that say they have more hp and torque and it was at the racetrack so some of thoe guys know how to drive
can i see the link to this special motor from them? and also you car is only 145hp to the crank while the 99-04 are 190 to the crank which actually makes your car like 120-130 rwhp and the 99-04 around 150-160 i believe and like shiner said some people are just bad drivers

No you can't....
I'm sorry but just give it up man...
All the poeple that have responded to you are very very knowledgable. Plus questioning in a V6 forum about the base power of a mustang V6 is like asking a christian if he believes in god...then arguing with him that he really doesn't believe in God. 94-95 came with 145 hp at the crank. 96-98 came with 150 hp at the crank. 99-04 came with 190 at the crank and 05+ is 210 hp. Those are the numbers...and you can't deny it. sorry.
