Best advice your gonna get:

Unless you have a complete donor car, and all the time / mechanical knowledge / tools to do this swap yourself.[or with friends]

Its not worth it.

agreed...everybody wants to do them and some even start buying parts, but then decide they can't do it later down the road...on the other hand, its a very good way to learn the internals of your car..thats the best way to learn..

It would be cheaper and less stressful for most people to go out and buy a Cobra than try to do a Cobra conversion to a V6. Why not just build up the 6? Make it fast, most people that have a V6 and want to do a V8 conversion would not be able to handle half of the power that they are going to be getting.

I don't know if I would go that far. That would mean those who own a V6 do so because they can't handle anything more than that, and frankly that is simply not true. The reasons folks own V6s are many, and seldom because they can't handle a more powerful vehicle.

You are right. I meant that most of the people that want to do Cobra swaps are younger guys 16-21 who have usually not had very much if any experience behind the wheel of a fast car. They think that all they have to do is stick the engine in their car and they are going to be the fastest thing around. This is simply not true. It takes a lot more than that as we both know, not to mention the fact that it takes some getting used to going from a 150/190hp car to a 300+ hp car.

Most younger guys don't have that much experience behind the wheel of a fast car to be able to handle the power. That is what I meant. I should have been clearer.

It's the ones that think that are the Master of the Mechine, they are the one's that get hurt. When I get into any car, I know that this car could and would kill me in a heartbeat if I let it. There are some of us "younger guys" out there that have half a brain. Anyway.

Dude, forget the engine swap. The kinda money you would be putting into it wouldn't be worth it. I was going to swap for a 351 last summer. When I took a look at that engine, I knew it was going to take alot more than what I had. Take that money and invest it in a Turbo. A friend of mine has a six thats Turbo'd, and it has a real nice sleeper effect. No duals, all the normal badgeing, and it's quite, till you put in on the gas. I love riding with him and watching him blow away cars that like to pick on us "sixers".

Here's a nice video I found. I think it's pretty sweet.
