okay i've been wondering about this for a very long time. when it came time to buy my first car, it was between two mustangs. one was a new edge automatic with 90k miles on it. the other was an sn95 manual with 47k on it. both v6's. i know the new edge is supposed to bee 40 hp stronger, but when i test drove them, the sn95 was definitely way faster. i ended up buying the sn95, which was actually cheaper. this is just something i've always wondered about and thought one of you guys can shed some light on the situation lol
The New Edge is also an SN95 but it's a "New Edge SN95". But pretty much the newer the car is the better technology they had to make the car and also has a bit more power. For instance the V-6's in the S197s are making almost as much HP as a stock 5.0! Technology makes a big difference!! Not a bad buy though, now it's time to start the mod's. LoL you'll catch the bug sooner or later.
i now all about the differences too. the split port engine, the gears, etc. but the sn95 was really faster!! haha i probably sound like an idiot, maybe i shouldn't have bothered posting this lol

Well the new edge is definetly supposed to be faster but none of us can comment on the condition of that particular one. There could be a number of factors that would make the new edge run slow.
I will say this though, be aware that the new edge auto won't climb the rpm's as fast as the older stick but with 2.73's it gets more acceleration per rpm.

that is a good point. eh who cares, i think i made a good purchase there. the sn95 i paid 4200 for with 47k miles on it. the new edge had 90k and they wanted 5700.

nice! i think the two are just two different cars, i think the sn95 is a little bit more nimble than the new edge, but that might be due to the rear sway bar, just my thoughts, i have a sn95 and a new edge, to me the new edge feels bigger, but i know its not
yeah i love my sn95. i like the new edges too, but now that i think of it, you see so many people driving new edges, i kinda like having the sn95. besides i'm not as concerned with speed (since i wont be racing it or anything) as i am with the electronics and the drive. i did the cai, underdrive pullies and stuff, might even add an exhaust and a nice tune. but what i really like is the custom stereo, the short throw shifter, the engine start button, the car pc and stuff. i'm a bit better at working on that stuff too lol.
The Ford auto shifts really slow. That may have been why the New Edge felt slower.
Not all New Edge's are faster than the older SN95's. I have had this arguement countless times. I have "raced" 6 New Edge's, all with less miles than me, and have only lost once. The one that I lost to had a few mods too.
It seems like every New Edge owner I have ever talked to gets all pissy when I say that I have beaten the V6's. The New Edge should beat the older SN but it doesn't always happen that way. Most of the time it seems that the 5sp. SN will be a little bit behind to a little bit ahead of the auto New Edge. This is all in my experience.
