Thumbs up Functional Ram Air Shaker System for V-6 Engine!!

I just found a shaker system for Mustang V-6. Is this system makes more horsepower. Is anyone have an idea or had one installed this system? If does, what is your comment on this Functional Ram Air Shaker System?

It will help you in the 1/4 mile, not so much in 0-60 . . .

For maximum benefit you have to evacuate the cylinders faster . . . It works like an old 302/289 . . . Upgrade exhaust to get more all the way around . ..

Thanks! kscoyote, I think you're right because functional ram air could cost me a lot of money plus I already put MAC CAI in my mustang. I just go to my old plan put dual exhaust to my mustang

Yeah, I bumped this thread to today's date.

But I too am curious about this topic. What are it's pro's and cons?

Thanks.

i don't think the gains would be any more than a cai, i think it is mostly for the look of the mach 1, thats just my opinion though.

Sorry fellas, I just had to...

I was americanmuscle.com, and I always stumble upon this product.

I'm sure you can have this and a CAI both at the same time. Right?

This will help you absolutely 0.

Same as a CAI, more for looks than anything.

That's crazy...

It's direct air-flow into your intake.

The crazy part is the "air-flow" theory...

I thought having a shaker ram-air will result to more direct air-flow, which in theory signifies "more air-flow = more power".

Are you saying A CAI and a shaker ram-air are very significant in air induction?

It's funny thinking about the fact that I saved over $600 in air induction.

Thanks for the heads up...lol.

You have to keep in mind that most hood scoops and even “ram air” don’t do what they claim they do. They do not force more air into the engine in spite of what folks think.

Now with that said, you CAN get one that does. But it will not look like the fancy “nice” looking ones on the market.

When a scoop is up higher on the hood (toward the windshield) they actually get very little air at speeds needed to actually “force” air into the engine. That is because the car itself deflects most of the air up and over the car. So the size of the scoop as well as location is very important.

A lot of hood scoops now days actually help cool the engine more than they help feed air into it. This will help with performance, but not in the way a lot of folks think it does though.

So yes, the shaker hood and scoop is more for show than go. It looks cool and you can see it rock when revving, but it does not give you any more air than a good CAI.
