Is it a V6 or a GT? GTs are V8's.

He wrote it was a V6 in his first post.....

Anyway, the cars are very reliable in general. The only problem that they had was headgasket/timing cover failure. Most of those were fixed under recall. The car is not overly powerful, but can be with the right modifications. You can google most of the recalls and TSB's for your year car.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum......

Actually he didn't. He wrote it as a V6 GT. I changed the thread title to reflect his real question and he edited his own post to remove the GT part.

... its all good.

Ford had the headgasket issue fixed by the 98 model year.

OP, I own a 98, I have yet to encounter any engine problems. I have had a few suspension and drivetrain problems but they were all problems that I have caused. lol I have not found any place that has started to rust on my car yet. You might check the paint around the car. It is a 10 year old car now. My clear coat is coming off of my rear bumper and my front bumper is scratched up from the previous owner putting a bra on it, I am getting those painted next month though. All in all they are pretty decent cars, definitely not fast but decent cars. Enjoy it.

´thank you guys for your inputs and tips.
i,m aware of it that the car is old and it might have som scrathes and stuff like that. engine problems can be fixed much easily than rust why rust is my main concern, it might not be that common in us due to the weather but here in sweden it is a problem ,due to snow and salt, any how i would preciate if anyone could point out where ,concerning rust, are the weakpoints of this vehicle. if this car become mine the first thing i,ll do would be a complete ditecprotecting bodyworks session. i will keep u informed

if you live where theres some or dirty roads, or just in general keep that lip in the body about the rear tires clean or you'll have some nice rust spots to deal with.
