I’m gonna have the opportunity to buy a 2000 base model v6 convertible. I need a semi-daily driver, and while I was maybe thinking of something with better gas mileage, the Mustang might be fun. I was wondering if there’s anything particular to this model that I should look out for. It’s got 100k miles, and the owner said she just had to have some hose replaced for about $500 (she wasn’t any more specific than that). It’s an auto.

For comparison purposes, I’ve got a 89 Probe beater (211k miles before you start making fun of it), a 4WD Ford Econoline (definite NOT a daily driver at these gas prices!), and a 1979 280ZX in great condition (not the most powerful engine compared to today’s rides, but boy can that thing corner!). I’m gonna sell the ZX.

So...any help appreciated.

The 2000 is a great car........ No major issues that I can remember. You'll get around 25+mpg on the highway.

$500 hose? They saw her coming a mile away........
