Well I went to fayetteville north carolina tonight and ran the stang. I did 'nt quite get what i was looking for but o well. I ran a 16.1. i had a serious issue with traction considering the kumhos are dead to the world... i was spinning bad, on both runs, even feathering the clutch. 2nd wasnt a help either seeing at the car just kept breaking loose. it was my first time on a strip racing so i was a little nervous.
Would one consider a 16.1 good? I know the car has more, but i just need to get the traction down.

What was your 60' time? Good tires make all the difference in drag racing and will probably be the best mod you make. You should look into getting another set of wheels for the back and get some Mickey Thompson ET streets. Do you have a limited slip rear end (traction lok)?

My guess would be somewhere around 2.5...... What was your mph? Yes, your times will drop once you get used to the environment and keep your tires from spinning.
I def. had tones of fun but was a little disappointed because i know my car has more than that. the disappointment only spurs me to get the car faster so i guess thats not such a bad thing. all in all it wasnt so bad considering my buddy called me while i was at work and said he thought it was a good idea to go tonight and i just rushed over to his house.
Lets see, my 60 foot was 2.6300 with a reaction of 1.0365. speed was 86.57. and as shiner knows, the t-lok is coming.

Your times should be better, but it's gonna take time to get comfortable. Your mph suggests that your optimum times should be around 15.5 or so with a decent launch. Wait until the last yellow light goes on, then hit it. It will improve your reaction time, but it has no bearing on your overall time unless you're doing "heads up racing."
The only problem is? Your gonna get hooked on drag racing........

So true Changed my mod plans after going to the track. Was looking for gears, now looking at uca/lca to help traction. Tires do help. I went to a 275/40/18 rear and shaved 2 tenths off. Still loose at launch, 2nd, 3rd though. Take off on the third yellow, cut my reaction down to .08, gotta play with it to get it right. As someone said in a thread, all you need is seat time. Good luck

I ran my 01 V6 5 speed, with just dual exhaust, and it went 15.6@88mph with a 2.3 60 ft. Not to say that I'm a pro driver or anything, but I do have a fair amount of experience on the drag strip though, both with my 5.0 and my V6. Just keep your practice up, and learn with what you have before going crazy on mods, you'll be surprised how much time you can knock off just be practice and learning your car better.

well my dad who has a 05 gt decided to purchase a g-time by escort. i ran a 15.65 on it once, but consistantly run 15.8 and 15.9. im not sure how good a measure that is compared to a strips timing system, but i think it is pretty accurate. i really would love to get some more time behind the wheel on a strip.
i should be getting this week an xcal3 from vmp, 3.73 and tlok, and either a VAP intake spacer or windstar kit (depending on cash after the rest of the mods). what kind of improvement will i be looking at?
