2000 ford mustang - P1413

hi guyz..my friend has got a 2000 ford mustang(just like me) and his check engine light is on..we went to autozone to check the error code and its P1413 - Secondary Air Injection System Monitor Circuit Low Input. So we went to a mechanic n asked him to check n give a quote..he said that secondary air injection valve is to be replaced and he has to order that from ford n it would cost us ~$290 just for the part..n about $65 for the labour..is that fair? or do u think he is charging extra? he said that he cant even confirm it for sure that the check engine light would go off after this fix..
i was like..hmmmm...

that sounds high,check on the price of the part yourself and labor time is about an hour.

Never heard of a secondary air injection valve? Are you speaking of the EGR valve?

Call the dealership yourself and price the part. Some parts are only available at the dealer and therefore c ost more. Check with your local parts store and see if they have it.
