Default 2000 Mustang Wheel questions

I recently bought a 2000 v6 in the fall, and with summer rolling around, I would like to get some new tires/rims on it.

I'm looking at 18x8.5 rims in the front, and 18x9.5 rims in the back. My question is, since I really have no idea on anything to do with tires, what is the size of tire I should put on them?

Also, will those rims come flush with the side of the car? This is the look i'm going for, I currently do not like the the tire sitting a good 3 inches away from the rear fender (towards the car).

Thanks in advance.

Depends, are you after looks or performance - the rotating mass of that rolling stock will kill your performance.

run to tirerack.com for sizing, as it differs according to tire manufacturer.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm going for looks over performences, and I'm buying the rims online, so I don't think they can test them like that. I've been to tire rack, but am unsure as to what sie of tires I need to enter in.

Go to www.americanmuscle.com they will list the best fit tire for each rim size for your year car.

Type in your wheel size, and it will generate a list of tires for fitment.

Their knockoffs are seriously heavy, -call and ask for wheel weights before you order. You shouldn't put too much over 22 lbs per wheel.

When I called them in 2003, the lightest wheel they carried was 27lbs.

Thanks for the help everyone, really appreciate it. I'm looking at some tires tommorrow.

Shelby Razor rims & tires Central Ottawa (inside greenbelt), Ottawa

Will those fit on my 2000? Also... what is the problem with having the tire too heavy, slow acceleration? Anything that would actually "hurt" the car?

It will affect your braking and shock absorbtion as well.

But if you're in it for the looks -c'est la vie.

I don't know the specs on the Razors, but most 2005+ wheels will fit. You can always add spacers.
