So I don't know much of the details, but I know that at some point during the 2004 production year Ford decided to drop a 3.9 into the mustang instead of the 3.8 they had been using. It's such a ground shattering difference afterall. Now I've checked the goodness under my hood and have come to the conclusion that I do in fact have one of thsoe 3.9's. . . blah blah blah etc etc getting to the point. Will I have any issues getting a Cold Air Intake for the 3.8 engine? I'm looking at the mac performance one, and i just want to be sure before I drop nearly $200 (Massive money for me lol) The reason I ask is becuase I look at the K&N page (Hah extra 50 dollars for a name) and it does distinguish between the 3.8 and 3.9 engines, and there is no intake listed for the 3.9. Any input is welcomed

Don't see it being an issue. You're going to need a tune anyway.

Tune comes later, for now I'm just after the little bit of mpg I get, but more preciesly the noise + Being able to touch under my cars hood. So rare the occasion. The oil change every 3000 miles and that's about it. *Cheer*

just get one for a 01-04 V6 , should work.

3.8 and 3.9 are the same motor. You shouldn't have any problem with the intake.

I don't remember "needing" a tune for a cold air kit on my 01,

The mac will work. I have one on my 04 3.9.

This is somewhat old, but you do not need a retune for the 94-04's.....
