Default What are your "must have mods" for our sixers?

Here's my list:

1. get rid of the ugly ass grill with a mach 1 grille delete
2. MUST have some GT side scoops and hood scoops
3. your choice of oem style wheels ( aftermarket wheels need not apply)
4. a drop

I definitely think instead of the GT hood scoop, the ROUSH one looks much better... wouldn't you think?

Better handling on a lower ride and a dual exhaust.

What is all of this about "GT" hoodscoop/side scoops and CAI? A CAI suddenly makes a V6 awesome and fast? A GT hoodscoop/side scoops suddenly makes the V6 Mustang undeniably sexy?

Their is a reason that the V6 is a base car. The GT is supposed to have the better styling, handling, power. Not the other way around.

I think most of the mods listed here are "mods" not "must have mods". At least for me, although it seems like I might be a bit more performance minded than some people on here.

You're entirely correct. There is a reason the V6 is a base model, they're not fast, stock. I'd much rather have a V6 with a CAI, exhaust, UDP, and tuner, and watch my gas tank stay on full for a while. It's no dyno queen, but it has enough go for daily commute and that's it. Unfortunately, I haven't had the best of luck with that whole full gas tank thing. But, if I wanted performance, I would have started with a GT.

Oh, and my car was undeniably sexy when I bought it, stock. It's just gotten sexier with age.

Count me in on the performance thing, cmaurer1. I had ripped and stripped my car somewhat. No front sway bar, power seat, amp and sub, rear seat, and a few other things. The Weld draglites are next. She is still sexy, but can rip at the track. I guess I love the adrenaline rush and beating GT's, Lightnings, 'vettes, firebirds, and camaros more......

So I guess my next "must have" mod would be a turbo.......

ok you tell me which looks better?

That's why I list scoops as a must have. The stock v6 hood / scoop package simply put , sucks!

And by the way ,If you think I'm not performance minded , after she's paid for , she's getting a full 01+ cobra engine tranny swap. Thats , why i'm not listung any performance mods...

Do you realize how expensive the Cobra swap is going to be?

I have a Mach 1 engine from a totaled 03 that I was going to install but after going around and even doing most of the work myself it would still cost over 3k for the engine to work properly. I would rather spend 3k in the engine right now and still have a better weight distribution as well as a lower weight.

To tell the truth, when I look at another Mustang the first thing I look for is to see if it is lowered. If it is lowered then I start to look/listen to see what else the car has done to it. When I see a V6 with the hood scoops/side scoops I don't care. lol The only thing body wise I have done to my car is the Mach 1 chin spoiler and that was because it was cheap. That is the only thing I plan to do besides the cowl hood for clearance issues. I don't really care if I see a GT/V6/Cobra etc. if it has nothing but body work. I would much rather see a stock bodied Mustang and here a nice whine coming from under the hood or the nice sound of a BOV. lol

and that's just fine....That's what's so cool about The Ford Mustang...since '64 it has been THE coolest LOOKING car and we found just how fast they can be as well.

Some of us are into the custom appearance...some are more concerned with performance... some BOTH....

Some guys seem to care less about how fast their car is than how it SOUNDS....so is that like a third category???

have fun with it...what ever you like...that's the whole point.

My must have mods for the v6;

-Something custom, to make it you're own. IE: I painted my stock grill inserts to match the OE tan stripes and tinted my own tails... oh, a de-badge is a good start too.

-Wheels, the stockers just su*k. Go bigger, and save the dinky ones for winter.

-CAI, come on.... at least let her breath!

-Something exhaust. Anything Exhaust. Just a little more grumble from down under!

-Tires.... yeah yeah, I know, but it's true. You remember those junk touring tires don't you? Yup they made good driveway sealant, didn't they!?

-Most importantly.... put a Girl in it... Cos' nothing is cool if you ain't got a honey! (Props to Brooks&Dunn)
