Scottie show your driving skill'z and you will be fine.
Apparently you've never been to the track and actually SEEN what half a second difference is at the finish line.

BTW: almost only counts in horse-shoes and hand grenades

Lets not forget that the times posted on all cars are done by professional drivers. I have destroyed faster cars because the driver was clueless.

i was quoting my times from what i've seen from real people at the track.
whats sad is that most of us drive better than typical car mag drivers. I believe C&D went 15.9 in a 99 V6 5-speed

the best drivers are tuner mag drivers (MM&FF, etc)

except sport compact car, those guys are idiots!

Have you ever looked through a turbo import mag? It is mind boggling to see the attitude of the writers.

They stick 2 great big honkin turbo's on the car that are larger than the motor along with a custom intake and giant TB with huge fuel pumps and full custom exhaust and then say the great thing about all this power is that it is basically a stock motor.

Stock motor? Excuse me, didn't you just add $20000 worth of turbo on it. How is it still stock?

The internals are stock.

As opposed to putting a turbo or SC on a 3.8 without a crank from a T-Bird.

what makes me mad is when they do shootouts with domestics, and then just rip us apart.

SCC. did a Cobra R vs something shootout, and the Cobra was obviously the clear winner (MM&FF got mid 12s out of it.) the other car was a mid-low 13 second car. of course SCC staffers are used to driving FWD crapboxes and subsequently they run a mid 13 second e/t in the Cobra and then they proceed to rip the car apart, saying how its inferior.

in one Mustang GT vs Type R shootout they say they enjoyed beating its "pushrod butt." funny thing is that it was an '00 GT.

at least MM&FF gives a non biased opinion about the competition. they were the first to admit that the F-body can destroy the Mustang and even when they did the '03 Cobra vs F-body shootout they still gave the F-body its due credit. They also did a sidebar on the '03 M3 (which they ran high 12s in) and gave it credit, even though it was an import.

Ricer mag staffers are inexperienced, and ignorant in most cases. I'd love to see an MM&FF vs. SCC shootout.

The internals may be stock, but that is a far cry from saying this is a stock motor.

Sc internals are only necessary when using the Allen roots style blower.

Their attitude is that domestics can;t make power. That is what is disturbing. The throw $40 000 into an import and make 900 hp and say they have ultimate domestic killer.

Big deal, take away those mods, the what do you have. Conversely, mod a domestic in the same way. Ever seen Tim Palmers turbo 4.6? Makes 1250 hp with a single 91 mm turbo and not 2 105 mm units like the 900hp import.

I agree with Quick, bring em on and we'll see who watches the talilights go by.

The latest offense was when they had a ooooh, aaaaah! Skyline in the same magazine as the Cobra and a Focus they're trying to build up to Cobra specs.

The Cobra demolished the Skylihe by every performance measure, and it was a MODDED Skyline!!

I dunno if it was SCC or Super Street, but I laughed for a couple of hours . . .

dude, don't expect to gain that much from CAI and exhaust.. the gains truthfully aren't that much.

gears and drag radials are your best bet at beating him.

i have an 01 v6 and i raced a 99 eclipse gs-t turbo and i killed him. all i had was a dual exhaust and that was the only mod that i had on my car. either that guy couldnt drive or my car was just faster. i think that you can beat him though.

It also depends on how you start. If you race from a dead stop, then the Eclipse is going to win unless the other guy driving can't launch. If you race him from a roll, you might just get the guy. A CAI and exhaust is a good start, but you probably won't win unless you have steeper gears like 3.73's.

Some of those rice burners can be quick even though they sound like my lawnmower...
