Hey, my friend just got a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse GS-T Four cylinder(turbo) and thinks its so badass. He wants to race me. Anyone think I could beat him? My 1999 V6. is stock right now, but im getting a CAI Next week, and duals put on the following month. Does anyone think I can beat him stock? Or should I wait til i get my stuff done, which will add about 30 HP, so we will be pretty even, since he only has 205-210 Hp, plus front wheel drive. And the stang has 190-rear wheel. Lemme know wut you guys think, thanks
A GS-T or GS-X is more competition for a V8, so get your mods before you race him. Horsepower/Torque being 210/214 est.
A stock Turbo (2767 lbs.) runs approx a 14.6 with the convertible (2888 lbs.) at approx 14.8
and a GS-X with AWD would lower that even more...
Like I keep saying, a lot of people joke, but some imports could burn you..
Just watchin out for ya.
Oh, 30 HP gain from your modifications is advertised HP.. can't always rely on it..
Well I was averaging the HP out, i might get more out of a CAI and exhaust, who knows..all i know is he has 210 HP and also if i get underdrive pullies, and other mods, I dont think he stands much chance. He also has a 8,000 Loan for his car, so i dont think he will be putting any mods on his soon.

30 HP is about right for advertised HP... 10 from the Cold Air and 20 from the exhaust.. but remember, thats advertised HP, at peak, and at the flywheel not the wheels. You will need some decent mods (heads,super/turbo, nitrous) to hit a mid 14, not jsut the standard bolt ons (pullies, cold air)

And the stang has 190-rear wheel.
Just a comment, 190 HP is the rated HP at the flywheel, not the wheels. So just take off about about 15% (178 RWHP)
When I did the 1/4 calculation, with 190 HP and the 3077 lbs of the car (without driver) it came up 15.6 so then its up to if he weighs a lot or if he's a bad driver.. never under-estimate your foe..

Unless he's had the turbo rebuilt, you might be able to take 'im.

If you're getting women because of your car, you'd better hope no Ferrari drives by -
And you'd better hope none of the Ferrari or Porsche drivers have STD's

A Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T that runs high 14's and low 15's
to a Mustang's low and mid 15's is no killing Quick 4.6!
Scottie show your driving skill'z and you will be fine.

ha! every tenth of a second is a carlength. a half a second difference is a slaughter! 5 car lengths is big. the fastest near stock 99+ V6 5-speeds I've seen run 15.5-15.3. The fastest near stock GS-Ts I've seen run 14.6-14.7. Thats quite a difference.
There are several members at 3.8 Mustang running mid 14's with just bolt ons. Add earlier 96 style manifolds to your car for more exhaust flow improvement. They are a true header style manifold and outflow the 99+ style.
