Default Upgrades, idle problems and...and..

This is the best website I've found out there and believe me, I've been through hundreds. Everyone here is knowledagble and friendly it seems. So I have a 99' V6 5 speed and was wondering what the first upgrade would be best bang for the buck. I can go around $400 before I take this new job and then we'll be talkin' serious upgrades, but for now..budget matters =] Any help will be greatly appreciated. Oh also, my car holds revs alot, sometimes up to 2 grand for about 20 seconds =/ and when it takes friendly spells and don't hold 'em, it's still is slow to come down to correct idle position. Thanks for helping if ya know what's up!

the hanging idle could be from a bad IAC valve, now as far as mods go I dont think your going to find much in the way of HP for $400.00 unless it's a Nytrous kit....
I'd suggest gettin' a set of subframe connectors and maybe a rear gear change for that amount...

Def. a bad IAC very common prob. on all Mustangs...but Randy you think he should buy sub-frames for a v-6?..also what gears should he go w/ 4.90's...lol...just playin around...gears and nos...would be where i would go...but i don't know much about the v-6's.

You might get better responses under the v-6 section on what mods you should do!!

Default Gears

Gears are great for the investment. An excellent first step. $400 will just about do the deed.

manual or auto?

I'd install an underdriver, rear sway, subframe connectors, and if there's any left over a drop-in K&N or CAI.

Thanks everyone for the info. I took your advice and took the the IAC off and cleaned the piss outta it with some cleaner and it has helped a little but when I get home after work I'm gonna clean the EGR valve...can't hurt, eh? As for V6 section, I thought I was in it..? My browser now says blahblah.com/forums/v6talk...and so on (well it did before I hit reply) But apparently I'm not because someone pm'ed me and said they moved my thread or post w/e it's called. As for upgrading with low cash, I think I'm gonna go with the GT rear end and t-lok and maybe some under drive pulleys. Whatcha think?
