Default oh my saturday ...

Just thought i'd let everyone on a very frustrating day ..

I've been noticing lately that at idle i have a little vibration .. i had an idea i might need a new fuel filter so i decided today would be a good day to change it. i went to advanced auto parts and bought a motorcraft filter and the spring lock release tool. got home and went to work. finally got the fuel system off and the pressure released and it was time for work. i've mentioned rust before and here it comes again. The clamp around the fuel filter was rusted and i had to cut it off. i the tool on the line and procceded to pull the filter and line apart. I used a little bit of common sense and wore some protective glasses to keep from getting fuel in my eyes but like always i found a way to screw up ..

when i pulled the line apart the gas came out and i turned my head and i got gas in my ear which burned something awful forever and took much rinsing. Finally got the new filter on and got her cranked up. Ran fine and smoother than before so i decided to use some engine degreaser to clean up some of the gas that had sprayed when i released pressure. All of a sudden .. CAR SHUTS OFF!! .. and wouldnt crank. I was scared to death that i had got water in the CAI. I jumped the car off but every time it wuit on me. I took the battery and got it test and it was all but dead so i got a new one. cranked back up and is fine. Alternator checked out fine but i have never had a car shut off and starting due to battery .. first time for everything i guess. Everything seems fine now and better than this morning .. just a scare, aching ear, and several close heart attacks!!

anyways .. i'm headed to atlanta in a couple of days for a braves game (about 2 hours from here). Im thinking using seafoam tomorrow just to get everything cleaned out and I've never used it before. The only problem is the oil was only changed about 1000 miles ago and isnt due an oil change. Is it worth seafoaming and changing the oil again or should i just wait till the next oil change. I just want to get everything running as smooth as possible before driving several hundred miles. opinions?
thanks every and i hope nobody elses day
was this frustrating!!

Sorry to hear about your frustrating day but you are going to the Braves game. That is bound to cheer you up. I love that team.

You should have seafoamed the car before you changed the fuel filter. Seafoam cleans out everthing. If you would have seafoamed the car before you changed the fuel filter all of the dirt from the lines and tank would have ended up in the old fuel filter not the new one you just put in. lol

well that sucks! haha i think im going to wait until the next oil change. i was surprised how smooth the car is running since the fuel filter change. The old filter had some nasty junk in it. My car seems great and running the smoothest it has since I've had it which is about 5-6 months.
