I was trying to make a left turn onto a side street from a four lane busy street. I was even in a left turn lane (but no light)...
some guy in an Escalade was trying to force his way out onto the busy street I was on. (Presumably to cross it going straight).
I believe being on the busy street, and in the turning lane, that I had the right of way but I still didn't want to screw him over from crossing the street. Traffic was thick and I got the feeling he had been waiting for his chance for some minutes!
So at the first tiny little window, with cars speeding towards me, I decided to hit the gas HARD into the left turn...the tires started screeching and when I went to straighten the wheel the car fish-tailed a little bit...
I thought....YEAH!!! Even my STOCK V6 210hp can give a decent little show when it has to!!
thought I'd share.....
anyone else have any cool moments on the street???
Way to go... Same story almost for me. Its my last weekend before i deploy to Iraq and im coming back to base from L.A. I turn onto the I-10 entrance ramp when this Rice eating Civic already on the highway tries to get ahead of me. 3 options: Slow down? What kind of Marine would i be if i slowed down? Ram him..haha ya right, or head on collision with gaurd rails and signs....Hmmmmm....I floored my lil 6 which is stock wit CAI, at the time i swear it was ferrari VS.....well Civic HAHA. He put more money into his exhaust tips and neon lights then in his rice bowl. I thought i would have to brake b4 crashing, instead i was glorified by my victory.
I can't think of one that sticks out, but I'm a member on bowling green mustangs and they are quite impressed with mine and my sons car. They love saying "watch this" to guys who don't know, then tell them it's a V6 after I blow out a 13 second run. They had Mustang night at BB a couple weeks ago, and I entered into the bracket race and had to run down two GT's who dialed in later than me. I ran them both down to get into the finals. The finals came, and I was up against a professional bracket racer who ended up changing his time higher to make sure he would run me down, so I knew I had to make a perfect run. We did our burnouts, and lined up. The lights go, and I ended up redlighting by .016. Oh well, I knew it had to be a perfect run. Anyway, I came back to my spot and a couple guys came over to me and told me that I won a trophy for placing second place. I went to the booth and also got a $40.00 gift certificate to a local steakhouse along with the trophy. I was told later that the crowd let out a big "awwww" when I redlighted because most of them know me and wanted the little V6'er to win.
So I guess that I would call that a cool moment.....
Cool Man i have a V6 myself and when i have to push the gas a litle it respondes like when ricers or other poeple try to cut my off i just floor it so far i have dual exhaust and CAI but i think its pretty fast for my daily driver but i sure want a litle more you know but your story was cool man
Here's one 4u. I bought my stang used... 2 weeks later my wife gave me a new paint job... after she hit the pole of course! So I decided it was new tire time. I put a mid-grade w-rate on the back, and liked them so much, I wanted to get the front pair. Long story short, we put the cheapo set out back... and I'm not one to give away good tires! so for a good week, I worked on my passenger tire after work and whenever. I had made the deal with my shop (since I'm lazy, and they own lifts) that they'd flip my tires around so I could play, so the second week I had them flip the rears. Luck would have it, but it rained... and thats just no fun. All week, might I add. Either way, Friday was nice and dry, and my buddy/ co-worker and his little lowered Yota' truck (with entourage in tow) dared me to a burnout duel. Ok. He lites em' up a little... kinda feeble, but he thinks I have my new sneaks on the rear, and knows I don't want to waste them. I chuckle, pop the clutch and let my cheapo touring tire cook like I tossed it on the grill. No lie, the wind was so dead I made a mushroom cloud, then it started going to the sides and smoked out the industrial complex we were in. Massive smoke, could have sworn I either went down to belts or I had bleached the tire first or something. I lay the strip and wing out of there. we jet to his place, and one of his buddies is yackin' about his camero, and my co-worker says "hey, why don't you just race him with you're camero?"... he says... "Nah, I can't take a GT like that....." Score for the 3.8!

heh I remember when I got my new xcal3 and flashed my computer. I was making a right hand turn onto a 45mph street so I want to see what my new tune will do. So I put it into half WOT and squeel from 1-2 ..... but it scared the crap outta me so I immediatly let off. It was pretty busy on the opposite side of the street and most everyone on that side was stopped so I know a few turned around to see what did it XD
Then not to long ago m buddy was in the car and I tell him, hey watch this ....... so I hit the gas almost into WOT and peel out some again from 1-2 and I guess I embaressed him becuase he made some comment about I didnt mean to do it and I am a newb lol.
I found myslef jockying for position on the freeway the other day with a early 90's 5.0 and far beit from me to slow down to get into another lane, so I goose'd it to get in front of this guy, and he in turn flogged it to keep me from doing so, Now I know that his 5.0 would smoke me from a standstill, but at 55 mph, I floored it, and he presumably did as well, and I got around him pretty easy. It wasn't a big full on race, but it shure made me grin from ear to ear by leaving a 5.0 in my mirrors.
the thing I like bout the s197's are the automatic 5 speed transmission. SOOOO much quicker than the old 4 speed 4RW70
