I am the new owner of a 2003 Mustang Pony (v6). Is there a solution for improving throttle response during shifting? It seems that the engine is slow in reducing RPM when backing off the throttle during shifting operation.

Regards,

It is primarily caused by rotational mass of the flywheel. They are heavy, so it takes a few seconds to slow down or speed up. You get an aluminum flywheel to help drop the rpm's quicker, but they're not cheap.....

the RPM not dropping in between shifts is important to keep the revs w/in the engine's powerband, giving you more power and torque on the up. It only does it in the mid to high rpm range though.
