I have a 1994 mustang that just started this weird A/C problem yesterday the A/C still works but only blows through the vent close to the winsheild regardless of the setting on the dial and began out the blue yesterday

You have a problem with the vent controls. Could be its just the cables attached to the dash controls are messed up.

I suspect the main zone control is locked in the "windshield" position, focusing all the air on the windshield.

Working on these things is pretty much a pain, and I'll let someone add detail who has actually done a lot of this work.

Me, I would probably take the console apart, eyeball the connections, looking for an easy fix.

Take pics as you get deep into the project - otherwise, getting everything back together can be a nightmare.

also check your vacuum line that runs from the engine tee to the passenger side of the car insde to the control panel. When there is a problem, especially vacuum, the system goes into defrost mode, so the windows won't fog up. I have a 95 cobra and i had to go behind the control panel to find one of my vacuum line was dry rotten. once fixed, the vents worked.

Great advice. Check the vacuum lines FIRST. I knew someone with good info would pop in here.

Default Vacuum

That bit about the vacuum lines rotting out is for real. I just finished replacing EVERY inch of line on an 83 Regal (mother's car, has 41,000 original miles, now runs almost like new).

Vacuum can really, well, suck when it doesn't, well, SUCK! LOL.
