True dual exhaust. Buy two mufflers of your choice, Magnaflow and Flowmaster are the favorites. Take them to an exhaust shop and tell them you want a true dual exhaust set-up with either an H or X pipe, your preference, and 2.5 inch piping. This will give you a nice sounding exhaust as well as a small amount of power. It should not cost you any more than 400.

Also, what type of transmission do you have? Look into a set of Under Drive Pulleys as well. They are cheap and easy to install and they help release some of the power from the accessories.

Also if you have left over money from the mods above that Cmaurer1 covered, say $40 then throw in an intake spacer while your at it because you have a CAI already.

My vote would be the easy way out... get a CTS/ Diablo tuner and tune her up. Thats about $400, and get the spacer too.

I'm new here too and in a very similar situation to the OP. Got a CAI and want to thrown on some more upgrades.

Can anyone provide links to some of the stuff you're mentioning? I'm car-illiterate so I wouldn't know where to find some of the stuff mentioned or what it even looks like.

(I do know the exhaust stuff though, with h and x pipes)

but wtf is a tuner and spacer? lol, forgive my ignorance.

Try American Muscle's website, lots of great products and free shipping. Contact AMNick for the discount code Also a tuner is a device that plugs into your car's computer and you can play with the car's setting whether it be performance or fuel economy or both. The spacer is just a cheap little product that can give you a little hp and mpg for a very small price.

If your going to do anything exhaust is a great mod.
A performance tuner (SCT x3) is another good mod.
An intake manifold spacer from VAP is another great mod.

cool thanks for the info fobra.

Checking American Muscle's store, I only see GT / Cobra listings for underdrive pulleys and spacers. Is there a special one for v6 or do both the pulleys and spacers for a GT fit a 3.8L?

*edit* looked through more of the store and almost everything is for GT/Mach1/Cobra. No love for the V6. I find it odd considering how many people I know directly involved in racing / tuning tell me that the 99-04 gen V6 Mustang is the best to tune into a sweet machine. Not saying it'd be more powerful than a cobra but considering it's tune-happy, I expected to see more stuff specifically for it.

Creates more volume leading to more hp/tq.

Check v6mustangstuff.com, lots of stuff to drool over. Intake spacers: I've been told that it also raises the intake off the block which reduces heat absorption and helps dissipate engine heat from the block. It sounds like a cheap trick that really works in conjunction with a CAI. I have yet to find a dealer with the spacer for a 3.8L. Don't get this confused with a throttle body spacer... they are not similar, and TB spacers don't really do squat.
