Thumbs down Buyer Beware

I just bought a 2002 v6 3.8L from Prestige Auto Sales in Appleton Wisconsin. I have put on less then 700 miles so far and had to replace the camshaft synchonizer already. Now I have to bring it in to have the tranny looked at because it sounds like a bearing is going bad. None of these problems were there when I took the car out of a test drive. I do not drive my cars hard. I bought with my eyes and not my brain i guess. BTW this car has less then 80k on the engine. Just becareful of this auto dealership.

How many miles were on this car when you purchased it? Sorry to hear that.

Keep all your records on what you had to pay to get it fixed. You could always use the lemon law!
So where do you live in wisconsin or alabama?

Default lemon law

I live in Upper Michigan. Everything I have read on Wisconsin lemon laws seems not to protect me because I bought AS IS. All I can do is tell my story to everyone possible. Funny this is I bought a new car because my Beretta has 190k on it and my alternator went out and I didn't want to spend the money to replace it. I'v been looking for a Mustang for almost a year now though.

I would look into how your state actually considers "as is" policies. In many cases even if "as is" is stated in the sale, if you can show that what you got was not what you THOUGHT you were getting you can still get rid of the car. Dealers have to make known (within reason) the actual quality of the car they are selling. They can not knowingly sell you something you do not have a realistic idea of.

Some issues just happen, but others can be predicted. And most auto dealers have a mechanic on hand so don't let them pull the "I didn't know" crap. I have found that a lot of the great deals on car lots are for a reason... they want to move the problem child.
