I got the answers! I am one of the Moderators on the V6 Board and a 16 year veteran of late model mustangs. Not to mention, a proud owner of a 2000 V6 5spd Laser Red Mustang, that just so happens to run in the 14's in almost stock trim and I have experience in helping to set up one of the first supercharged 1999+ Mustangs, which also exceed 400 RWHP. Think it took a lot of money? Think again.
The V6 Mustang has huge potential! I don't want to be a V8, I have owned 7 V8 Mustangs, and I chose to run a V6 with the introduction of the greatly increased HP 1999+ model.
I want to personally welcome you to the Forum You got questions, so lets get rock'n

Hey All, I just bought a V6 2000 Stang a week ago today. So far..I LOVE her..but..the question I have..as I'm sure every one else has..is.."What mod to do first" for more power. I WAS surprised at how much torque she has..I always figured I'd be buying a V8 for power..but..she is..and has the potential to be BAD..lol
The first mod is typically an Air Filter and perhaps a Cold Air Induction (CAI). That should gain you at least 5 extra pony's under her hood.
The second most popular mod for the V6 is a dual exhaust. Not only will it make her sound sweeeeet, but it looks sharp, and best of all it will add another 20 ponys under her hood.
Thats in the power department, but to add to her already sexy look, a nice set of rims and some wide tires is high on the list also.

Don't forget to get some new springs, shocks and struts for your little pony. You will enjoy the ride much better, and the cars just look better without the off road look.

A fella on another forum ((3.8)not the "other" forum) told me what I need is a 73mm C&L. Now for the big question, what's the dif between a MAF, which Mr. Ford put on my ride, and a MAM, which is what the C&L is said to be? Is a C&L that much better than say a BBK CAI package, or a densecharger?
As you can see by my questions I'm new to this sensor controlled thing, my last serious rod was a "56" Chevy 2 dr post (in the late sixties) and had a 4 brl carb on it, no MAF's, IAT's or any other gizmo's on it.
I await the output of your little grey cells.

Buckeye, you dont need a 73mm MAF (MAM is the same aka:Mass Air Meter) on a stock engine, start with the basic boltons that Glen described: CAI, Dual Exhaust and add some underdrive pulleys.
Another good and cheap way to increase power is using NOS, at least for the ocassional street (SAFE) or strip race.
And first of all get to know the basics of EFI. There are nice books around where all the sensor stuff is explained in detail. Look also at www.howstuffworks.com they have some good basic info in there.
Check www.Amazon.com for Ford specific EEC and EFI books.
Thanks for clarifying the MAF MAM thing, I kinda had an inkle that was the case. I reckon I'll go with the BBK unit and put a little sparkle under hood while I'm at it.
The exhaust thing has got me snookered, I don't see much in the way of 3.8 cat-back systems out there. Most retailers seem to be in love with the 4.6 & 5.0 and treat 3.8's as illegitimate stepchild, maybe I'll go to my local bender man and see what he'll quote me.
I have the Haynes manual for 94>00 (don't like Chilton), they explain a little bit, I'll definitely look into your suggestion.

You are going to be better off going with the local. The only company that I know of that makes a cat back kit for the V-6 is Borla. I like Borla, but it just doesn't give you enough options. Good luck.

Boy would I like to hoist a few, but my medico's would have a hissy fit and the meds I'm on would react adversely with it. But I can pop a caffeine diet Pepsi with ya.

Hey I have a 1998 v6 mustang and I am doing some mods and stuff and I was wondering what is the specs of the 1998 v6 mustang or any of them for that matter. Is there any good sites that have them? That way when I go to mod i can find out what i have.

I think the pre 99's were somewhere in the ballpark of 155-160 HP and around 200 ft/lbs of torque. I could be wrong thogh.
